Overview
The Cartridge Manufacturing Technician 3 position is an entry level position in the world of Canon High-Speed Automation. You would be responsible for operating the automated, robotic assembly lines at Canon Virginia. After training, this position involves direct control of assembly line robotics by machine interfaces, troubleshooting hardware items such as pneumatic actuators, electric grippers, servos, solenoid valves and conveyors. The technician also troubleshoots and monitors processes controlled by logic through direct access to the PLC software.The technician plays a key role for innovating new ideas where manual processes can be automated. This is the entry level position for a 3 tier training program where technicians combine on-line training with hands on experience to further their career as a Technician 2 and 1.
Responsibilities
- Prepares process line start-up and shut-down functions (e.g., setting-up equipment, testing, loading, cleaning); ability to communi-
cate with equipment through HMI control panels.
- Performs routine quality maintenance (e.g. wiping lens, changing suction cups, etc.) on multiple process lines to improve line up-
time.
- May perform calibration checks on process line equipment to confirm tolerances are within specifications to ensure the quality of
parts and/or materials produced by line.
- Responds to machine stops by identifying where and analyzing why the error occurred, to gain a better understanding to minimize
future risks; resets machines to resume production; relays findings to PM to expedite equipment repairs.
- Completes all required check sheets, forms, reports and lists regarding defects, dimensional specifications, quantity and set-up,
recording data and entering into the database accordingly.
- Loads and unloads parts and materials from process line equipment to maintain efficient production and prevent stops. Changes rolls of material.
Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED and some process operations or related manufacturing experience preferred.
- Must be able to read and follow work standards and complete documents.
- May require forklift certification or ability to acquire certification.
- May be required to work overtime and may be assigned to other shifts based on company needs.
