Duties, Responsibilities & Other
    This role will manage a variety of roadway and bridge construction projects and directing the inspection and material testing efforts on various projects throughout the DOT.
  • Must have solid experience in construction methods, techniques, and operation of field and office engineering instruments . Candidate should have experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems and have ability to plan, organize, and schedule daily operations and to make independent decisions. The successful candidate will possess strong working knowledge of standard road maintenance and construction procedures and must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, departmental personnel, contractors, developers, local and state officials, and the general public.
  • The most qualified candidate will have strong computer experience including office software and drafting software, s, knowledge of engineering standards, policies and procedures related to transportation and experience in customer service related to resolving problems that involves explaining complicated engineering concepts to various customer groups. The candidate will also have experience writing memos, reports, and emails that clearly convey technical information and engineering concepts.
Qualifications
  • BS or AAS in the engineering and/or professional engineer registration a plus.. Degree in construction management or engineering preferred.
  • 2- 4 years of experience required.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
Performance Expectations
  • Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements
  • Establish strong working relationship with client, contractors, and design engineers
  • Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target
  • Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope
  • Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters
  • Assist in negotiating contractor change orders
  • Maintain document control for correspondence, RFIs, submittals, etc.
  • Oversee project schedule and budget
  • Prepare and analyze schedules
  • Prepare cost estimates
  • Read plans and specifications and understand the construction contractor's means and methods
  • Solve construction problems in the field
  • Test, document, and assure quality of contractor's work
