Position: Electromehanic
Location: Suffolk, VA
Pay Range: $36.63- $38.50
Shift : 3rd (11pm-7am)

While reporting to the Plant Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, calibration, repair and/or replacement of electronic instrumentation and controls as well as electrical wiring, electrical and mechanical devices and other equipment normally found in an industrial plant environment.

This position is in our Composite Can plant in Suffolk, VA. We produce composite cans for nut and snack customers. We service snack markets. Our goal is to safely produce high quality packaging in an efficient and cost-effective high-volume environment. This plant has shown great stability and past growth.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Complies with all plant safety requirements, as well as other policies and procedures. Participates fully in the plant safety program.
  • Uses all tools, materials, test equipment safely and efficiently. Is cognizant of personal safety and the safety of all others working in the vicinity.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Assist with changeovers on the production lines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair and mechanical equipment.
  • Repair or replace defective parts on Mechanical, Hydraulic and/or Pneumatic systems.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Start devices to test their performance.
  • Utilizes a wide range of test equipment, including analog and digital multi-meters, and other test equipment to diagnose and repair electrical systems, e.g. fuses, motors, sensors.
  • Follows detailed preventative maintenance (PM) schedules by initiating checks and tolerances given per equipment.
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Must be able to correctly follow housekeeping policy.
  • Able to work overtime and night shift as required.
  • Other duties by Supervisor
  • Able to work effectively with all plant departments as well as vendors and corporate employees.
  • Ability to develop and implement a project to successful completion with little direction or management involvement.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
  • May be assigned to work on special projects.
  • It may be necessary for the employee to be called in to work in certain circumstances.

We'd love to hear from you if:

  • 2-5 years' experience in Maintenance on Industrial machinery in the manufacturing industry and understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Set-up and operation of various welding equipment, lathe, milling machine and other shop related equipment.
  • Experience using basic electrical troubleshooting tools, e.g. ampere meter, voltmeter.
  • Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLC desirable
  • Basic welding skills required.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Associate degree in MET or EET or Equipment preferred

Competencies:

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense. Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
