Position Summary:

IEM is looking for a Full Time- Environmental Planning & Historic Preservation Compliance Specialist. We are looking for a skilled Compliance Specialist to join our PRCI Energy, Environmental Planning, and Historic Preservation team. The ideal applicant will contribute significantly to our mission of providing outstanding expertise in environmental regulatory compliance, emphasizing energy services in transmission and distribution. This role demands in-depth knowledge of environmental law, substantial experience with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and a history of effectively participating in complex environmental projects. The successful candidate will assist in strategy development, quality assurance management, and policy formulation to ensure our operations comply with environmental regulations.

Primary Location:

  • Candidate must live a commutable distance to Guaynabo and Santurce, PR.
  • Position will be a fully in office role, we cannot accommodate remote work from home.

Travel Requirements:

  • This position may require travel to complete work assignments or attend meetings.

Essential Functions:

  • Exhibit comprehensive understanding and expertise in environmental regulatory compliance, with a focus on EPA standards, quality assurance management, and data integrity.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement, offering environmental insights to clients and crafting solutions for complex environmental challenges.
  • Contribute to business development by fostering connections in the emergency management community and supporting new business initiatives and proposal efforts.
  • Support the successful execution and direction of projects.
  • Assist in formulating strategies to meet project objectives.
  • Help in the creation and upkeep of the Project Work Plan, including budget and timeline management.
  • Assist as a key liaison between clients and the project team.
  • Provide reports and updates to contract management and clients.

Current Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Good communication skills to interact effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate complex situations and contribute to the development of effective solutions.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in Environmental Planning, Historic Preservation, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of energy services and disaster recovery practices.
  • Commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development, with an understanding of the specific context of Puerto Rico.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or related professional certification in Environmental Law.
  • Certification in EPA Quality Assurance Management or related area.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in program or project management within governmental sectors, including interactions with various governmental levels.
  • Good knowledge of FEMA, resilience initiatives, and the National Disaster Recovery Framework, focusing on environmental and historic preservation issues.
  • Proven skills in environmental regulatory compliance, policy formulation, and effective team leadership.
  • Experience in grant analysis, tracking environmental sector economic trends, and supporting projects in Puerto Rico.
  • Understanding of Puerto Rico's environmental and energy sectors, particularly in transmission and distribution.
  • Expertise in environmental law with experience dealing with EPA regulations.
  • Experience in supporting energy services related to transmission and distribution.
