Job Description

Quality Control Chemist

Principle Accountabilities:

* Perform Quality Control Analyses to verify quality of manufactured polymers in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
* Perform Quality Control Analyses to verify quality of raw materials and in-process parameters for pre-polymerization intermediates.
* Ability to perform laboratory calculations to adjust finished and in-process product characteristics within the required specification range.
* Record quality data and any adjustment activities accurately and completely in both written and electronic formats utilizing laboratory notebook and SAP database.
* Participate in investigation of non-conforming product and communicate required quality results and observations to Process Chemists and Operations Department.
* Participate in daily Production meeting and weekly Safety meeting.
* Maintain accuracy of analytical equipment by performing routine calibrations once per shift.
* Restock laboratory supplies and chemicals and assist in the inventory management.
* Maintain safety and order of work area through daily housekeeping and weekly inspection activities.
* Manage all chemicals and waste (hazardous and nonhazardous) in accordance with RCRA regulation and the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard.

Experience:
* Preferred analytical instrumentation experience: HPLC, GC, moisture balance, T90 titrator, KF-titrator, refractometer, pH meter, bulk viscometer, centrifuge.
* Previous laboratory experience is a plus.
* Proficient in the use of MS Excel, Word and Outlook.

Education:
* Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related fields.

Physical work environment and requirements:
* Standing and sitting in a laboratory environment; dexterity and hand eye coordination to perform key testing steps; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
