Description/Job Summary:

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Engineering Tech II. The person will be responsible for the overall condition of the buildings under the area of responsibility in numerous locations. The Engineering Tech II will be the Quality Assurance inspector for all completed work and general conditions of the buildings. The position requires helping the current team occasionally moving chairs, conference tables, general minor maintenance, and escorting. The position will be responsible for climbing ladders sometimes to verify completed work and is responsible for ensuring service tickets submitted by the customer are completed and signed off. The job will be located on the Naval Base Norfolk (NOB) but also include Little Creek and St. Juliens Creek. A company vehicle will be used to travel between the bases but will stay on base overnight.

Responsibilities/Duties:

The Building Inspector/QA Inspector will verify general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Basic Knowledge and experience in the following areas are required: Verifying electrical receptacles operate properly, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, verifying sinks, water coolers, and toilets painting structures and equipment, tiles, hanging doors and installed door locks, broken windowpanes, and general maintenance on equipment and machinery. The job also requires the ability to lift 50 lbs. of furniture to assist in moving couches, chairs, dining room sets, and miscellaneous items when the team needs assistance.

  • Conducts daily inspection activities to ensure the physical structures, building envelope, interior finishes, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, furniture, exteriors, associated roadways, surrounding grounds, etc. are fully operational daily.
  • Monitors facility programs and services to ensure tasks are performed efficiently and are in compliance with all building codes for life safety, fire prevention, and security program requirements.
  • Assist in performing Facility Condition Assessment Program data gathering and management for integration into the Integrated Work Management System (IWMS).
  • Notifies facility leads and building occupants of utility outages for specific work.
  • Performs facility maintenance and service request initiation and status tracking.
  • Assists building occupants with clear-out efforts prior to major facility renovations.
  • Verifies and maintains building, space, and seating signage.
  • Communicates findings from field surveys and coordinates updates to the floorplans for seating in IWMS.
  • Acts as a delegate for the Facility Lead to perform the employee move task/seat updates in IWMS.
  • Escorting maintenance contractors and subcontractors to certain locations on base

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Clear background investigation. Clear drivers license
  • Preferred 3 years of general maintenance experience
