Overview

Job Purpose

Intercontinental Exchange, a global leader in financial data and technology, is seeking an experienced Technical Writer in our Atlanta, GA or Jacksonville, FL office. This person will work directly with the global technology team to plan, write, and maintain high-quality technical documentation. The ideal Technical Writer candidate will be a self-starter with exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a proven track record of delivering technical documentation that reduces errors, improves results, increases quality, and/or creates value.

Exceptional communication skills are required as you will be in a highly visible role interfacing with Infrastructure technology leaders to develop and present world-class technical communications.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, write, and maintain high-quality technical documentation for target audience that is accurate, discoverable, relevant, usable, and organized.
  • Use basic subject-matter knowledge in relevant technologies and applications to create or enhance documents that improve the user experience and the quality of the documented process.
  • Learn complex technical information quickly from subject experts and translate that information into documentation relevant to the target audience.
  • Identify documentation gaps and execute changes that will reduce process errors, improve process results, increase quality, and/or create value.
  • Manage a library of technical documentation, including optimizing and standardizing document format, location, style, and change governance.
  • Work with other writers and engineers in multiple levels of the organization to help each other learn and grow, and ultimately deliver the best possible product.


Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree required. Degree in Technical Communications, Professional Writing, English, or Journalism preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant technical writing experience creating technical documentation for IT professionals such as Software Engineers, System Engineers, or Network Engineers.
  • Professional technical writing certification (CTP, CPTC, or similar) is a plus.
  • Experience managing a library of documentation, including storage and organization of documents and change governance.
  • Proficient at writing content in U.S. English.
  • Experience with technical writing toolset including standalone object formats as well as on-line formats (graphics, Word, Visio, Excel, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, HTML, Confluence, Snag It, etc.)
  • Experience with screen capture and screen editing tools for importing into other sources. (Flare, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Previous professional experience working in a highly regulated industry is desired (banking, aerospace, automotive, etc.)
  • Knowledge of global IT Infrastructure design is a plus.
  • This position offers hybrid work flexibility, with up to 2 days per work for home.

Schedule

This role offers work from home flexibility of up to 2 days per week.
