As a Public Affairs Representative II, you will support Metropolitan's integrated communications program, which includes written, visual, online, and social media content that provides clear messaging on key water management and related issues to reach various demographic groups and ethnic communities through Southern California's diverse media market. In this role, you will help write and edit a variety of public-facing communications products such as articles, fact sheets, newsletters, scripts and talking points for internal and external uses as well as materials and content for strategic reports, district websites (mwdh2o.com, bewaterwise.com) and social media.

As part of your duties, you will work with Water Resource Management to support water use efficiency programs and water conservation messaging, while helping to develop conservation outreach materials as well as to coordinate with member agencies and other external organizations. You also will provide support for the management of Metropolitan's media placement contract and Metropolitan's outreach program for conservation awareness. In addition, you will help manage and maintain content on "bewaterwise.com," Metropolitan's online conservation portal, along with engaging in public outreach activities, making presentations, and preparing written materials to support water conservation programs and goals.

The successful candidate is a creative and skilled writer with well-rounded experience in corporate communication and/or public communication. They are a talented storyteller with innovative ideas on disseminating internal and external information and the ability to turn technical data into content that is easy for the public to understand.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years relevant experience of which two years of experience must have been at the Public Affairs Representative I level; or a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years relevant experience of which two years of experience must have been at the Public Affairs Representative I level.

Relevant Experience is defined as: experience in writing web content, social media, and other materials for corporate communications and/or public communications.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:


License(s): Valid California Class C Driver's License or equivalent that allows you to drive during your employment is required at time of application.
